In nature, we recognize the work of the Creator. And we Šumava inhabitants consider our Šumavěnka to be a very successful piece of work. However, its history has not always been the most cheerful. Although the weather often does not entice us to go on trips, we can also travel with our fingers on a map or on a screen.

www.geoportal.gov.cz/web/guest/map – at this link, we can see aerial photographs of the whole country from the 1950s and the present. We can thus see the vanished settlements in the border area that are now covered by forests and meadows. Conversely, we can observe how the settlements in the interior expanded.
www.stream.cz/zmizela-sumava/serie/1-rada-4367 – and here Mr. Emil Kintzl will introduce us in short programs to the history of our surroundings. There are over fifty episodes of this series.
